Love Languages - Languages of Appreciation
- Am I using them with my team and within the wider school?
- Set aside time and effort to use with the team.
REBT (Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy)
- 3rd Space before getting into the conversations. Ritual before going into a conversation to focus.
- Ask the question because you want to know the answer. Listen to the answer and then ask the question from that. Listen in the moment.
Listening
- Contextual Listening - when someone is talking you hear:
- Words
- Emotions, Pace, Tone, Volume
- Stress, Anger, Fear, Resistance, Understanding, Confusion
- Make the call. Do you want to be interrupted now and hold the conversation now? put it off until you can give them more time?
Using Neutral Language
- Openness
- Not taking a position
- Not reactive
- Use 'I' statements
- Facts
- Redirect
- One message at a time
